DEFINITIONS

For convenience please find a list of words and phrases defined.  It's not our goal to define everything that might be used by WealthFactor on all publications.  We would encourage those that use our materials to in addition to reading our definition should we have one also consult: https://www.investopedia.com/.

Mass Adviser:  When we use this term we are referring the the hundreds of thousands of individuals and businesses that serve the average end consumer with investment advice, financial planning or wealth management services.

 

RiskSmart:  A philosophy on risk that focuses on simplicity and efficiency.  

Direct Indexing: Direct Indexing is a strategy that seeks to replicate the positions of an index by purchasing the underlying individual equities instead of using an ETF or mutual fund.

Custodian: A custodian is a financial institution that holds customers' securities for safekeeping in order to minimize the risk of their theft.  A custodian holds securities and other assets in electronic or physical form. Since they are responsible for the safety of assets and securities that may be worth hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars, custodians generally tend to be large and reputable firms. A custodian is sometimes referred to as a "custodian bank."
